Stay at Amandari and venture out with their guides. They will do their best to keep you away from the relentless crowds. I also went back after a twelve year absence and could not believe how the island had changed. Staying at Amandari still felt like the Bali I remember and really enjoyed my stay there. Most of the luxe hotels in Bali are built on a hill or have some sort of elevation change. Best bet is probably to find one that has a good and reliable buggy service. I've had good experiences with FS Jimbaran.

i was looking at Raffles, Bulgari and Amandari. I remember 32 years ago when we were young, Amankila was even a bit difficult to navigate. Amandari was ok If I remember correctly.

Fast forward to today. We are embarking on a cruise from Bali to Singapore in March 2026. We are now in our 70’s and my husband has some mobility issues. He uses a cane and can do stairs, but with a hand railing. We would like to stay a few days in Bali before we start the cruise. Some of the luxury resorts I have looked at are beautiful, but would be too challenging for him. I would like suggestions of some luxury resorts which he could manage. We have 4 days and are not partial to any area….i just want to make sure we can enjoy the resort and its amenities.
