Hence my question: ULTI escorts do not escort us to the front of the line anymore?
I don't think there has been any change, but just a "bad" escort who wanted to return to his/her station very (too) quickly. It happened to me once or twice last year and it always turned into a disaster because the ADP agents cannot care less and I was even once accused by a ADP agent to cheat because I had nothing to do in this lane or similar BS (the AF agent left me in the lane like for you). The procedure is that the AF agent escorts you at the police booth and leaves once you're there.
