My world will no doubt crumble when Asia and Rome come into full display on the Alaska scene. Adding the Alaska FF# to an AA account profile seems simple enough, but I just can't picture booking a flight on AA for money given the meager return on EQM, while I have little problem redeeming Alaska miles on even domestic AA flights for often favorable rates. Or am I missing something?
Sometimes AA is the only reasonable flight option if one wants any sort of AS earnings and perhaps frequently those flights cannot be purchased on the AS site (or perhaps not at an acceptable fare on the AS site). My first experience of this delightful state of affairs was in June when I needed to go to PHX. At least I could get MCE at booking (or whatever it was called), have a lounge to visit, and not have to fly via the Pac NW for my sub-2-hour destination. My other options were UA or WN.
