TrackMyBooking.com: track hotel prices

Hi FlyerTalk!

Hotel prices are becoming more and more dynamic -- they vary widely across booking sites, and can drop significantly over time as the stay date approaches. I regularly check prices after booking so I can catch these drops and rebook. This has always felt like it should be automated (like Yapta, RIP), but I’ve never found a good site that does this reliably across a large number of booking sites.

A friend and I have been hacking on some side projects, and we decided to build this. We're launching an alpha version to FlyerTalk first -- would love your feedback.

Hotel booking sites (and even metasearch sites!) obviously have little incentive to get you to cancel and rebook when there's a lower price. More broadly, we think there's a potential for a hotel booking site that always does the right thing for the consumer by steering you to another site if there's a lower price somewhere else, and tells you when prices change so you can rebook.

We're starting with a simple hotel price tracker, but if people like this, we'll consider adding more to get closer to an ultra-consumer-friendly OTA.

How we make money
Right now, we don't even have a payment flow built out and are limiting people to 3 active trackers, but to start we're thinking about a $10/month subscription to have more trackers. In the future (if there's enough usage), we'd try to get an referral affiliate cut of the booking price if and only if that price is the lowest available -- we'd always send you to the cheapest place, even if it didn't make us any money.

To be clear, we’re not affiliated or associated with any hotel, or hotel booking site right now.

Future Roadmap
If enough people like this, we may also build in the ability to check private fares using a chrome extension (automatically checking your logged in credit card travel portals for special rates with room upgrades, etc), and an ability for our site to auto "click through" on booking site links to figure out which rates are refundable, seeing member rates, as well as understanding the terms behind the rates (room type, free breakfast, free upgrades, etc) so you don't have to do that manually yourself.

Over the long term, we think there's a lot of potential to help you pick the hotel you want to stay at as well, for example by using AI to parse hotel reviews.

Send us your feedback!
This is still really rough around the edges (you're the first group we're sharing this with!), so we'd love any bug reports or things you wish this did. And we appreciate any understanding for any blips you notice. To start, the site checks trackers once per day and alerts when prices change. You can either comment on this thread, DM me on FT, or email [email protected].

Thanks in advance for trying it out!
