Crossed 1 Million a few days to achieve Million Miler right before my 37th birthday on IAD-FRA! I have nearly 2.6M BIS lifetime miles across all airlines and including redemptions.
I took a quick "mileage" run to ensure I would hit the milestone departing the US on a transatlantic flight after some IROPS the week prior necessitated. No acknowledgement in the Polaris lounge at check-in nor when I asked the inside agents if they could print a boarding pass. Received the app push notification about my milestone about 2 hours before departure from inside the lounge, which was a nice touch so I knew the milestone was registering properly in UA's systems. No acknowledgement at gate or boarding. We boarded about 45 minutes late since the aircraft had to be towed so I figured boarding and service would be a bit more chaotic and hustled despite sitting in the forward Polaris cabin on the 772. Once onboard, the FA went around taking meal orders. I wasn't greeted by name (same on my int'l return) and no acknowledgement since he was using paper and not the app. I mentioned it's my million miler flight (was starting to get a bit sad) and was hoping to get a challenge coin from flight deck. The FA congratulated me and we chatted briefly. Another pax overheard and came over to congratulate me, which was really nice. He's got me beat at 1.7M! we chatted for a few minutes. Right before pushback, one of the pilots came to my seat and gave me a short handwritten note and the 1MM challenge coin, which I very much appreciated. Another FA also mentioned to those nearby in the cabin it was my million miler flight and got a few claps. That was the extent of the recognition as I skipped dinner and slept until right before landing - no acknowledgement as we de-planed.
I received a survey from UA asking about recognition shortly after. I was also able to sign my partner up to receive my 1K status (up from her Gold) which we'll enjoy for the next year and a half.
Overall, happy I crossed the milestone and it was nice to have some acknowledgement. Hopefully more for 2MM thru 4MM
