Holiday inn Resort Miyazaki

What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

yes but keep in mind this hotel is NOT in Miyazaki city.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked a 15 sqm double room with cash and was upgraded to a 33sqm king bed with a single bed ocean view room.

How are the rooms?

Very dated but I knew this going into it. View was great, plenty of storage, bathroom and tub area were straight out of the 80s. Bed was comfortable and the a/c was great.

How is the exec. lounge?

n/a

What was good and what was bad?

Good
Great status recognition with the upgrade and special drink at breakfast
Location is great if you want to spend your time at the beach. 2 out of the 4 days were spent relaxing and surfing.
Hot spring and pool were nice
You can rent bikes and a board from the hotel
Location is good for Aoshima beach. Right on the beach
A/C
View Of the beach and ocean

Neutral
Pool can be used at a cost (600 for the day so not bad), need to pay taxes for hot spring use (150), looks like they had an outdoor pool but now it’s not in use. Quite the eyesore

Bad
Room is old and a/c is quite loud. Not enough to ruin my sleep
It’s a 25 min train ride to Miyazaki station. Trains come by every 40-60 min so you need to time it right. There are buses as well that come more frequently but take longer
Half the restaurants are closed. Chinese buffet is the only one that is ala carte while the other one is buffet only. Many restaurants close the first half of the week and the ones that don’t close early. Obviously not the hotels fault.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Points booking is of great value as you can choose any room for the same amount of points. I paid about 60 usd and was willing to live with a minor upgrade. Would not return but I’d also not return to Miyazaki anyways.
