I’ve been preliminarily approved based on US GEP membership. Though US passport online renewals are reported as speedy, there’s no time for that plus a TTP reapplication.
How ill-advised would it be to withdraw my current TTP application, renew my passport, and reapply as an employee of a US publicly traded company? The online form says that processing time is one month. (Alternatively I can withdraw this application and do the “employee” application closer to my next trip since that class just requires a single recent entry.)

You can't do online passport renewal since you're more than a year out, how confident are you that you'll get your renewed passport before October? It's likely it'll work, but you're adding risk that you end up being one of the people who take 4 months to get their renewal due to passports being lost in the mail to save 30 minutes on an entrance in 2027.
