And in any case, F to NY can often be had under £3k, so these same people, assuming they weren't totally spendthrift, would also be worse off under the new system!
You are right, my maths was wrong, which makes it even worse of an example. I think though that they weren't on about Leisure First which would book well in advance for £3000 but instead last minute high fares paid by their employer. And I do wonder now if actually they were on about GGL rather than Gold.
