Adding a data point from this year…

Checkin:
Very nice staff whenever I had to interact with them.

Facilities:
Did not use the restaurant but looked like it did serve breakfast and had a bar. Gym is down in the basement. Very small lobby with a computer serving as the business center. There was always snacks at the credenza in front of the check-in desks - coffee in the mornings, fruit water during the day, cookies at front desk sometimes, popcorn in the evenings. Nothing fancy, but a nice touch.

Rooms:
Upgraded to corner king on the top floor. Definitely dated - but did not notice stains, peeling wallpaper, or anything like that. Bed was squeaky but still got good sleep. Sink is small and vanity is non-existent, but had good water pressure and hot water. My room had a connecting door and definitely could hear conversations through the door. HVAC was not the best as room was quite drafty from the hallway. Only 10 rooms per floor (with rooms on level 1 and basement), 17 floors, and TWO elevators. So there were definitely some lengthy waits and slow rides with lots of stops.

Neighborhood:
Not the best…depending on the day, sidewalks outside would smell like urine and there would be blobs of fecal matter (not sure if human or animal). Definitely unhoused folks around the surrounding blocks. But I will say that I never felt unsafe during the day. 10+ min walk to Union Square, about 15 min walk to Powell BART station. About 20 min walk to Chinatown but there are some elevation changes if you take the wrong streets. 15-20 min walk to FiDi.

Takeaways:
Overall not the best location, but then again, most of the other Marriott properties in that area are going to have the same issues. Would I stay here again, sure. Would this be my first choice, nope.
