Nice hard product, potentially a great value, location may be a deal-breaker

I just completed a 5-night stay here. At 9,000 points per night (booked before the category change) and a TSU I felt I got a smoking deal for a nice suite. On the other hand, the location kind of stinks - as others have noted.

The hotel reminded me a bit of the controversial Grand Hyatt Athens. Lots of cruise passengers, on the side of a highway, not a great location, but overall I still thought it was OK.

Suite
I couldn’t get the Hyatt website to support using a TSU when I entered 2 adults and 1 child. It would only work for 2 adults, so I booked that and contacted the hotel who told me the suite was fine for up to 4 people.

I booked the Regency Suite Exec Twin and received one on the 8th floor. The hotel apologized and said no larger suites were available, but this suite worked great for my family. A proper living room and bedroom, huge bathroom with tub, shower, and plenty of closet space, and a half bath. I never heard any night club music and had no complaints at all about the room. Pictures are below and I thought it was really nice.

Breakfast
At check-in I was told Globalist breakfast was in the club. That spread is limited (scrambled eggs, British-style bacon, a meat and cheese plate, breads, and fruit) so on my second morning I checked again at the front desk, where a different agent told me Globalist breakfast was in the club (I inferred only in the club). By the way, the club only opens at 8 am.

On my third morning, I went to the restaurant to ask if I had breakfast included as a Globalist. They told me I did and indeed they had a cordoned off area (behind ropes - quite funny) for Globalists, with three tables. A waitress brought over a platter of food “for our family” and we were also given an ala carte menu, though we didn’t use it.

I’d definitely recommend the restaurant breakfast - much more choice.

Club
Very nice staff who really seem to want to help and make sure you have a good stay. Limited breakfast with light snacks available all day. Tapas from 5-7 on the dot. I only made it once but it was pretty tasty. Wine and beer are available all day. I never had any trouble finding a seat.

Location
This is the big issue, as others have noted. The hotel is close (<5 mins) to the subway, but it’s a long ride to get anywhere. Realistically I felt it was around 40-60 minutes to get anywhere. It gets a bit old.

On the other hand, this was my 3rd or 4th trip to Barcelona and I did enjoy being closer to a regular old residential neighborhood (if you turn right out of the hotel and walk through the park, you’ll be in a residential area in a minute or two). We had a fun evening watching the women’s euros at Silverados, a bocadillo bar not far away. If you have kids, the park nearby is handy for soccer or general running around.

I don’t think I’d recommend the location for a first timer unless you are absolutely OK with spending a fair amount of time in transit.

It’s very convenient from the airport. We took the city bus (accepts Apple wallet) and it was maybe 20 minutes. You do have to go down and up and underpass with stairs to get to the hotel.

Laundry
We tend to take long trips and pack light and are always looking for laundry. We couldn’t find a wash-and-fold but this place is only about a ten minute walk and worked fine.

Pool: small and a bit chilly. I preferred going in the water at Barceloneta.

In Conclusion: I felt I got a great value here with a proper suite for my family. The club lounge was a nice resource with friendly staff. But I don’t think I’d recommend the location for a first time visitor unless you are absolutely OK with long transit times to and from the major sites.
