Uhm, I generally just give them the # of the phone that's in my pocket, whatever it's base might be...in Europe + Asia I've had no issue rattling off +1 416 xxx xxxx, and I've traveled with friends/colleagues in NA who are Europe based and have no issue rattling off + 44 xxx xxxx, etc.
The FDA I'm standing in front of today has no idea if I checked into another hotel yesterday or what that interaction was like so getting upset with them because of that while they are just trying to do their job sort of seems like yelling at the clouds to me, but I guess a lot of people like to do that for whatever reason.
Always find the easiest path to my room is just answering the q's I'm asked and let them do their bit.
