Having found LHR pretty unbearable of late but wanting to make the most of OW status, MAD is our new go-to point but I guess there's still going to be some level of faffing around with transfers. I suppose it's something that IB serves an international destination from MAN, unlike our "national" airline!
The whole MAD separating T4 and T4S terminal for Schengen and non-Schengen has its pros and cons...
Cons:
Takes 10min to get between terminals
All non-Schengen arrivals are mixed together, so 'clean' arrivals (from say UK/USA) are mixed with unclean, and will not be able to escape, by design, having to go through security again when connecting to T4 schengen....
Pros:
Allows IB to offer better F&B at T4S lounge, as the defacto 'longhaul flagship' lounge, with UK/Ireland pax freeloading off this setup
T4 and T4S are huge, gates are far apart with lots of space for queuing, so boarding is civilised (non scrum-y)
