Still very much a building site, the exciting new voco Surawong is apparently due to open “in 2025”.

It’s a complete refurb of an ancient hotel next door to my fave Le Meridien Bangkok whose abandoned pool area around the back has long been an eyesore.

By the looks of it, the voco will comprise two buildings either side of the gutted and refurbished pool area but I could be wrong as the site is some distance from readiness.

As I find these things interesting, here are two pictures taken from Le Meridien’s 24th-floor club lounge. Judge for yourself if (a) both buildings will accommodate guests; and (b) if it looks like they will make the 2025 opening date.
