My young adult family member has his Global Entry on his Delta account. He had to fly LAX-JFK for a work project. The company he is doing the project for booked his flights. Unfortunately, they did not include his middle name, so he did not get TSA pre-check on his boarding pass and ended up in a long line.
He contacted Delta customer service chat and asked if they could add his middle name to the reservation for the flight home this weekend. They told him the system wouldn't let them, because he is in the middle of a round trip booking. One customer service rep told him to go early to Delta ticketing at JFK and that they could add his middle name and generate a new boarding pass with TSA precheck. Then he would need to stand in another line to check in and pay for his luggage. She also said that maybe the Delta Help desk could do this?
When he messaged chat to confirm details, this customer service agent said he didn't know if ticketing at JFK could add his middle name, although he said they are allowed more privileges at the airport than the online customer service people, so he could be in a long line for nothing.
Does anyone have any experience/advice about this? I'm thinking it might be easier just to go early enough for the regular TSA screening, and make sure that his middle name is included on his next reservation.
