ANA booked via UA: Do you need to show your credit card at check in?
So...this is the same old story of me relying on my family member's credit card to pay for my ticket since my credit card limit is still low. SEA-HND-SIN vv. My family member in question will not be with me.
I know that if you book directly via ANA, you might be asked to show your credit card. I know that if you book via travel agent or link your credit card to Paypal and use Paypal instead, there's no need to show your credit card. But what happens if I book my ANA ticket via United Airlines? Will ANA's check in at Seattle and Singapore still possibly ask me to see my family member's credit card, which I know the details of (and can provide to them) but do not have physical access to? If they do, will a scanned copy/photo/photocopy of the cardholder's card and ID work for them? Or does United handle the payment and ANA will just go from that fact?
To clarify, the booking went through the usual 3D Secure Verification process and United told me there's no need for it; but I am not sure if I receive any emails from ANA about having to present my credit card since I mistakenly input the cardholder's email address instead of mine; that has since been corrected a few days after my booking.
I personally have never been asked for this, even when booking JX, JAL via AA, CX, or KE; just curious if ANA is operating off a different stance since when I booked my ticket, the passport info, address, and email address I provided to United did not transfer to ANA and I had to call them to add it. Who knows if even though United verified my payment, ANA did not and consequentially I need to present my credit card upon check in or else I can be denied boarding (not ANA, but I have heard horror stories on BR where passengers are required to rebook because they got dinged by the credit card verification mechanism; some had been verified using 3DSecure. Not sure if by providing the number will satisfy them)
