Yes, it tends to be empty except in the 90 minutes or so before the AC departures. This, despite UA now having signs in the UCs directing pax to the MLL. I suspect the lack of crowds is in large part due to the location, at the end of a dead-end hallway and up a level by elevator, with minimal signage.
For me, it's actually preferable to Polaris SFO.
