OK. On returning to the Pullman I called AirNZ as I wanted a better economy seat for myself and travel companion (separate PNR, also used SHRU Y->J).

Whilst waiting to be connected, I searched ExpertFlyer and noted that on NZ145 to BNE there was both biz and PE available. When the call was answered, I explained the situation and asked if being re-routed AKL-BNE-SYD was possible, and if so could they re-lodge the SHRUs.

Agent thought they could, and did so after 25 mins of typing, then a promise of a call back after some issues trying to re-lodge the SHRUs . I missed the call but a clear message was left saying all done. I also had email with new e-tix, and the app showed upgrade to biz as pending.

Around 30 mins before boarding, app changed to show seat in PE. I guess there were around 4 other Elites ahead of us in the upgrade queue Y to Biz or from PE to Biz.

Flight was full in Biz and PE. No recognition of status, so no ‘first choice’ of meals. No biggy and I suspect that the late upgrade clearance meant crew iPads were not updated.

SPs have credited for AKl-BNE, and also SPs for the BNE-SYD on QF under NZ codeshare.

Given SHRUs will expire in Oct/Nov it was good we could use them. Very impressed with the call centre agent, as it was really a long shot to get a re-route at ni cost.
