You really need a car there, Khao Yai, but my friends love the area for the natural setting.. Unfortunately, getting there and getting around Khao Yai, can be almost impossible without a car as there are few drivers with cars. We had to have our driver come up from Nakhon, about 1.5 hr. away, to pick us up one time our friends had to rush off to BKK. There are some hills near Rayong or Pattaya and more rural setting, but once you're there (by bus is easy) you really need a car but there are many drivers with cars there.
