For 2026, I am considering booking only Basic and only on points except for short notice higher priced WGA+ trips to use up my non-expiring funds. This could cause me to lose 2027 A-list status, but I can sign up for a credit card or two in early 2027 to get back most of the benefits and potentially earn a new CP. My non-status family members who fly Southwest will get Southwest credit cards for the free bag and I will use their points to fly in 2026.

By 2027 a lot could change. I might not be flying weekly. JetBlue or JSX or another competitor might enter the overpriced OAK-LAX market. Or Elliott might decide to walk away after losing their shirt, allowing Southwest Classic to return. Hey, I can dream.
