I used to share this opinion -- but then I realized that the underlying assumption of this desire would be that the smaller pool of GS would get better benefits / easier access to things like PN, companion benefits, etc...

I don't believe that to be true any more -- GS is not what it used to be -- and it will never be again... The annual reductions will continue regardless of the number of GS -- death by a thousand pricks...
