I remember a good few years ago HWMBO was sending one of his children down from Glasgow to London. All went pear shaped around Crewe, I think, with rail replacement coaches being laid on after several hours of uncertainty. If they had turned up at the time expected, they could have gotten to my place on their own. Instead they arrived around 3am. I got a cab to the station and paid the driver to wait for the coach to arrive and take us back home. Said child was instantly approached as they got off the coach and offered cocaine by some ne'er do well. Luckily they're not easily cowed (no Glaswegian is!) but they were a little unsettled, for sure. The coach stopped around the corner from the station main pick up / drop off area and it took several minutes to figure out where they were and find them.
