This is quite a funny thread title as I would argue this is the main Westin Qingdao, but I get it :-) I enjoyed this property and found it to be a well-rounded choice that exceeded several of my expectations for China. Here are my impressions and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded to either an Executive Suite or Junior Suite - the app always said Junior Suite but the check-in agent said Executive Suite - couldn’t find an Executive Suite room type online - room looked larger than photos of Junior suites - maybe Executive Suites aren’t in the system - regardless, this was a nice if slightly compact full suite
  • Bed was very comfortable - medium plush mattress, plush covers, plush pillows, new Westin bedding
  • AC was consistently more effective than I would expect in China - wow!
  • Shower pressure from the wand head was good (I didn’t try the rainfall head)
  • Soft and plush carpet
  • Couch and armchair were decently comfortable
  • Offered late checkout proactively - no issue with requested 3 PM
  • 54th floor lounge had tasty afternoon tea desserts and great tortilla chips during evening service (along with Bailey’s in spirit selection) - my type of lounge!
  • Breakfast only served in restaurant and given without welcome gift choice - I enjoyed both my omelet and hashbrowns and found the machine coffee to be above average for Chinese hotels

Cons:
  • Small cleanliness miss on the toilet seat edge

I would definitely come back.
