Standard class on the train is pretty much the equivalent of Eurotraveller and Club Europe in terms of personal space and legroom. Standard Premium is a first class carriage without the food and drink service of full first class, and good value. First class is probably wasted on a 13 year old.
Only thing is, if parent worried, can select seat in the very first coach - normally Coach K on Pendolino but can confirm on seat picker, I like K12 an ‘individual’ table seat. Bonus is that’s where the ‘kitchen’ is so the catering team and often TM congregate for Avanti Galley FM so may be safer.
