Also, if we have the technology to better screen large electrical items and liquids over 100 mL, we should have more urgency in adding that to UK airports (I think these are called CT scanners).
Just figured I'd say this, the new screeners don't require this anymore, but I will say I may or may not have left my liquids in my backpack once just as is to see if my bag would get pulled. It didn't get pulled. After that, I never once took liquids out of my bag at LHR and out of the numerous times I went through LHR after that, my bag never got pulled for liquids. The only time it got pulled was because they thought my iPad's detachable keyboard was a whole computer. LHR security is a joke.
