Checked out yesterday. Valet has increased to $75/night. As a lifetime Gold we were able to get "upgraded" from a King to a two-Queen room. A King garden view is the base room and the only one that is bookable with the 85k free night certificate. Paid upgrades (Sunday night) were offered to a fireplace room w/ garden view for $150 + tax, ocean view $300-400, and a club room was $200 per person. The two-queen room has a tub/shower and the king typically only has a shower. Room was fully renovated and a nice refresh from the older rooms. The television looked to be 75", Nespresso Vertuo, and Dyson hair dryer. Robes were noticeably absent.
As a local it was quite odd to see long wait times for tables at Raya and 180blu on a Sunday evening. We arrived at 6pm and were told it would be nearly 3 hours for Raya and 45 minutes for 180blu. Half the tables at the restaurant were empty and 180blu had four to five tables that sat four. However, they opted to make parties of two wait nearly an hour in hopes that they'd be able to fill the tables that accommodate four (180blu seats on a first come first serve basis). We ended up walking down the hill to Young's Beach Shack and eating for a fraction of the price with an ocean view.
Service throughout the hotel was noticeably more friendly than visits on previous years. Valet is still extremely slow even during non-peak periods. The house car is a really great free perk for rides within 3 miles. They have a calendar of events for each day. We attended their sunset event overlooking the bluff at the big fireplace. They listed complimentary drinks with alcohol, but they were small sample size tasters. Overall a great stay on one of the best beaches in California. Water temp was 71 degrees and the marine layer burned off around noon.
