Your plane hasn't flown since Friday; perhaps G6 doesn't mean "gate G6 in terminal 3" but rather is an internal designation for a parking area or hangar. You'll see those sometimes at other airports (e..g, 'PAD1') and then they resolve into actual gates once departure time approaches. Is your flight on the monitors yet?
FlightAware shows the frame now assigned to that flight (N973SW) with the last flight on Saturday (SBN-ORD) -- but since the seat map shows all seats save for 8C occupied (+1 standby) and now at about 2 hours to departure still showing G6 as the gate of departure.
Something very odd is happening with this flight from what FlightStats is showing:
- flightstats shows what would be the correct terminal (3) for Gate G6
- when the flight record was created the equipment was a CR5, then changing to a CR7 with N572GJ assigned (A CRJ-550 operated by OO despite the implication of the ...GJ reg) then changing to N532GJ about 18 hours later, rolling to N530GJ and then eventually back to N570GJ
- at 21:28-1 CDT (02:28 UTC) the departure gate was originally set as F15
- at 05:34 CDT (10:34 UTC) the departure gate changed from F15 to F10
- at 06:32 CDT (11:32 UTC) the departure terminal changed from 2 to 3 and the gate from F10 to G6
- at 08:04 CDT (13:04 UTC) the equipment type changed from a CR7 to a CR2 (ouch. I'd be ticked if I was booked on a 550 and a 200 showed up at the gate. Probably the worst possible downgrade.) with the ship currently assigned being N973SW.
Suspect N570GJ was the frame assigned with
jsloan posted as that one hasn't moved since Friday.
We're now 2.5 hours from departure and G6 is still the posted gate...Probably won't get updated until the aircraft gets towed to the gate... Or I hope someone gets pictures of UA agents boarding at an AA gate
