I’m not sure what Discover did in the past, but Capital One has always done this weird thing where they fix your due date to a day of the month and then back out your closing date from that (25 days I think). Which means your closing date varies from month to month. Super annoying for maximizing the grace period on large charges, which is probably intentional since they don’t even post the closing date on the website - you have to figure it out yourself.
They’re probably moving Discover to that stupid system.
My Discover card always had the closing date on the 24th of the month. That doesn't seem to have changed from what I can tell (this current bill was the first with the changed due date, so who knows what will happen going forward).
