If you are hungry in Hungary (pardon the pun, I really couldn't resist), eat anywhere but the Budapest Airport, Ferihegy 2B. They only really have a coffee bar and a Sabarro (I believe the only Sabarro in Hungary) which is twice as expensive as any of their branches in major US airports. Terminal 2A (where all the Malev flights are) apparently has much cheaper food, though this could always change. Best is to pick something up in the city, and bring it out.

And on the subject, never ever take a cab from BUD to the city. They are all controlled by the mafia, and while they may not steal your stuff, they will charge you far too much (last victim I heard about was over 7000 Forints or about $35 dollars). The Hungarian media did an expose on this a few years back, but the reaction from the airport was "So? We really don't care." Unless you have a car meeting you, take the airport minibus for a flat fee of 2500 forints (about $12, 10 EUR) that will take you to any address in the city. You can't miss the signs for the minibus, it is very safe and saves you money, and gives you the good feeling of discouraging corruption in a country that sadly has too much. If you are really cheap, there is a city bus that takes about 20 minutes to get to the Kobanyi-Kispest metro station. Bus costs about 200 forints, and you can buy transport passes from there. Look for the sign "Repter-Busz" outside the terminals.
