Well there was - pre C-19 it was possible to choose your mains pre-flight in F and CW. Not quite up to SQ 'Book the cook' standards but you could reserve your choice of mains (certainly ex LHR); many airlines like EK and even AA did that and do it now.
For some reason that has never been properly explained, and 5 years post pandemic, BA hasn't managed to get its act together.....which for an organisation that is 100% obsessed with cost-cutting it is utter madness...but pre-ordering never retuned. Like a lot of things at BA there's talk, maybe sometime, issues with IT, lack of organisation on the ground etc etc
But yeah, complete no-brainer. Saves the airline a potential heap of cash in term of reducing waste (nice green credentials), enables passengers to secure their preferences (customer satisfaction), and so on and so forth.
Like a lot of things with this clown act, just wants me to get hold of someone and bang their heads on something solid.
