It's the same as the weird QR premium check in at LHR, which I also find similarly silly / not targeted at me and part of why I've gradually moved over to EK in the first place. I don't want to sit down for five minutes and wait around to be checked in whilst you pretend it's a hotel, I just want you to spend enough money on check in staff that I don't have to queue.
