I was travelling 2 weeks ago with my 5 year old niece, and she handled the entire process of scanning BPs, printing and applying all our bag tags by herself without difficulty. (I lifted the heaviest bag onto the belt for her)
You have missed the point of my post. Further I do not have "Priority" tags at my disposal. Nor do I have the ability to override the system. Nor do I have "heavy" tags.

There is a devalue in the full self service. (I was also annoyed at the agents terse reply at LAX). I have to interact with them when Delta wants to put a "priority" tag on the tags, further when they bags are heavy I have to interact them for the system to be overridden and to be tagged appropriately. At that point it is easier to just interact with with the agent directly. Further, as I noted subtlety is there is an issue of responsibility. Glad your niece did the process, hopefully her bag and teddy bear do not go missing.
