I stayed here this month and can report that the HR Pravets is a more than decent hotel, and that they took reasonable care of me as a Globalist. The setting in front of a lake and mountains is pretty. My room (a suite upgrade) was typical of a HR, and I had a nice balcony facing the lake and mountains. The breakfast buffet was somewhat better than a typical USA HR, but not quite as good as in Sofia. The spa was larger than the Sofia HR, with a very large indoor pool (no outdoor pool), but I somehow liked the spa better at the Sofia HR (no hydrotherapy in Pravets).

Overall, the "problem" with Pravets is that there isn't much to do there. THE weekend destination for Sofia would seem to be Bansko. In Pravets, you could play golf, use the spa, see the home museum of the former Communist leader, and visit a monestary. And that's about it.
