As much as I agree with you about the lack of AA's financial success, I disagree that they are incapable of crunching numbers. In fact, I think they are too focused on numbers and can't see the forest from the trees.
AA's lack of success stems from management's lack of vision, strategy, and understanding the "squishy" things that don't reflect obviously in the numbers.
There are lots of reasons why AA's finances have lagged behind DL + UA. The prior poster believes that it's because of something they don't like (banked hubs and tight connections). That might or might not be true, but the idea that they don't know how to crunch numbers or that the tight connections are the best piece of evidence for why AA's financial performance is lagging is not realistic.
