The Andaz Nanjing was definitely a more enjoyable experience for me compared to my stay at Andaz Xiamen last week. While there are some similarities in these newer Andaz properties in China, I thought the execution at the Nanjing outpost was better. Here are my impressions and photos:
Note: I was told of a happy hour with wines and snacks from 5:30 to 7:30 but did not attend.
Pros:
- Bed was comfortable - my room had a mega bed comprised of two twins attached together - the mattresses were medium slightly plush, pillows were plush enough (some were firmer than others), covers were very plush
- Shower pressure from the angled wand was strong and good
- Window lounger was comfortable
- Offered late checkout - no issue with requested 3 PM
- Attached to IFC Mall - mostly upmarket luxury goods, but there are some restaurants and coffee shops along with a connection to Yuantong Metro interchange station for Lines 2 and 10
- Breakfast was fine - good omelet, machine coffee was fine for machine coffee, egg tart was very good, some tables are out in the lobby as the restaurant space isn’t that big, but I didn’t mind
Neutral:
- Noise isolation is okay - you can definitely hear some cars
- Was initially upgraded to River View Premier, but given non-River View Premier at check-in (only suite online was River View Deluxe Suite - it doesn’t say what category but I’ll assume not standard)
Cons:
- The elevators from the hotel ground entrance to lobby on 6 did not smell good - the rest of the hotel did not have this issue
At some point, I would like to try Grand Wuyi Hotel to compare to this Andaz.
