National has the most expensive retail rates and they don't really participate with discount travel brokers. The only way to get a decent rate with them, usually, is through a corporate code. Some employers have codes which can be applied for personal use. Colleges or other affinity groups do too. If you work for a large company or went to a state university, check if they they have a corporate rate with National.
