I've done the same. I hit EXP last year and am on pace to hit it again this year (probably not by September but definitely before the end of the qualifying year) though am mostly WFBF anyway. I did qualify for DM last year through the MQM rollover conversion and have taken flights to burn off benefits such as using GUCs and RUCs but otherwise usually have preferenced AA over DL based on schedule and price and overall convenience. I do have two tickets currently booked on DL - one was using a companion certificate and the other, a one-way, using miles out of my wife's account. I'll still go with DL if they make sense from a price or schedule convenience but have moved on from a the almost completely "DL Only" attitude that I had even just a couple years ago. As I've said before, it's not that I've found AA to be that spectacular per say but I haven't found DL to have the same competitive edge they used to (recognizing this is all my own anecdotal experience but my anecdotal experience drives my anecdotal decision making).
