The A359 has superior cargo capabilities over the 789. As said earlier, if this route doesn't flop within a year or two from its launch date next June, fully expect it to be a A35K route not just for the additional 16D1/16PS tickets to be sold compared to the A359 but the additional cargo capacity and capability of the A35K to fly LAX-HKG.
Perhaps, they're thinking about bringing DTW-HKG back soonish? (I know they dislike the fuel burn on DTW-PVG, though.)
