Years ago, I used to always book 45-60 min connections weekly at PIT, CLT, PHL, PHX, MSP and DTW. I misconnected once in 10+ years. These days, I wouldn't risk it on any carrier.
I agree and do everything I can to avoid close connections. But for me, one of the downsides of flying out of a small market is the limited number of flights. We have 3x DFW & 2x ORD, so if I am connecting to another smallish market I don't always have a choice. Sometimes I end up with 45 minute layovers and others 5 hours. I prefer the 5 hours over the 45 minutes.
