Keeping a healthy balance between Boeing and Airbus for one. Also the A339 is a good airplane and a better A330 but it does have some limitations. The 787 would be all about the future, allowing for up gauging and its a more efficient design than the A330 platform. It will largely be able to replace a lot of the high volume trunk routes to Europe and SA that the 330 currently flies, while those aircraft can be reconfigured in a less dense, more premium cabin and replace 767 flying while allowing for growth in those markets as well. Plus there could be some potential for a 787-9 order which might be better suited to some routes than the A359. We operate the 737 alongside the 320 so why not do the same with 330 and 787?
