I only stayed one night. i made an FHR booking. Then I used my Hilton AMEX to pay for meals that I charged to my room. It worked well.
If I were staying 2 nights, I'd likely make the first night as an FHR booking, then consider using a free night that I've got from my Aspire card for the 2nd night.
OR
I had booked my night relatively close to the date of my arrival. There was a heavily discounted rate for a suite. If I was offered that on a 2 night stay, I'd likely do the FHR booking for both nights. The suite was lovely.
