However, since AA isn't technically a travel agent site so I was wondering if there's any cons that I should be aware of in this case? I don't have any status with either airlines so the primary reason for booking with AA is because of the price difference. Thanks in advance if you have any advices or tips.
I assume it's a codeshare AA flight operated by Qatar?
It's OK just keep in mind few nits if you purchase from AA:
- All voluntary changes will have to be done with AA. With some code codeshares (like BA) ticket changes require to call.
- Advance seat assignments may need to be handled by QR, you will get QR booking code on AA website
- If ticket is non-refundable and you cancel, you will get flight credit on AA
- On day of departure QR will be your primary contact and will handle IRROS
- Making voluntary changes during the flight, i.e. you are in DOHA and want to take earlier flight etc are virtually impossible on codeshare ticket
- If you are collecting AA miles, they will probably post based on ticket price. I remember last time non-codeshare QR in J were distance based and posted significant J bonus , so you will probably lose on miles here
