Many airlines have tried this and failed. The jump from a holiday airline, which Jet2 is, to running LH schedule is a huge leap. The economies are very different and not to be underestimated.
And then there is Virgin who seem to have a successful long haul niche but don't do short haul. Operating long haul and short haul does indeed seem to be a dark art.
