AC operates around 1,600 flight per day and this involves a few dozen. Occam’s razor would suggest something more along the lines of WS’s costs are better than AC’s out of YYC and AC’s better than WS out of YYZ and in a time of sudden boom in leisure revenge travel and spiking demand, each adjusted to their strengths and the natural result we see ensued.
I don’t see a bunch of old men in monocles wringing their hands looking over a board of Canada-centric Risk with little plastic airplanes laughing manically.
When in doubt, follow the data.
One of my observations has been that fares within western Canada have gone up significantly (including FPs within the region) since WS/AC agreed to stay out of each others backyard. That said I think there was another thread just for this topic?
