It's possible, if AC/WS have a backroom agreement. It just allows the airlines to make a lot more money on other routes. Just look at YWG to YVR/YYC. YWG to YVR, AC has 5 flights per day(always full), well WS has 2, with no prime times. YWG to YYC, WS has 8 flights a day(always full) and AC has 1 flight per day with a bad flight time. This does not pass the smell test to me. Even, YYC to YVR seems to be effected. AC use to have a lot more flights on this route, with larger aircraft than the current schedule for the last 2 years. Now, with the reduced schedule, AC and WS are charging a lot more for this route too.

i think part of this issue though is also when they had the frequency a lot of the flights were on smaller planes. AC used to run the RJs quite a bit. Both Jazz and Encore have pilot retention issues. No shortage of planes, not enough pilots to fly them. Hence why each retreated to their back yards.
AC definitely cares about connecting traffic through YVR, YYz, and YUL though.
either way, a spend based program without SQM works far more in my favour.
