I think the point by
CLTRob was that on the 777, DL kept 9 across on the 777 (and DL 777s were 2-5-2 initially and later became 3-3-3) while nearly every other industry player with 777s went to 10 across in Y (even with many also initially starting at 9 across like AA and UA) and the extrapolation there is that DL would again buck the industry trend and go for 8 across in the 787 when most industry players have installed a 9-across configuration in Y (not saying I agree or disagree).
