f0zzyNUE most hotel charge 100% after 18:00 or 20:00 anyway. And to have full access to my room till check out anytime till my check out in the middle of the nights is worth it. Have done this in Singapore, Dubai, Bangkok, New York, Kuala Lumpur among other cities in the past and at various brands. Spending time in the club lounge for a couple of hours might be okay (if the hotel has one), but in some case, I simply want to have this confirmed without need to ask for it and without guarantee till the day of departure.
This is what I did in Doha when I had a 22 hour layover from 4am to 2am. I could have got a day rate from 9am to 6pm, but I had no idea how dephased my body clock would be or when I would want to sleep.
So I booked the two nights, ditched my hand luggage at 5am and had a quick nap before exploring the city, having some pool time and getting down around 8pm for a few hours of sleep. It was a pretty cheap hotel and it was worth it.
