No luck here either. I have encountered the same thing. Phone calls to JL (with 30+ minute wait times) have ended with, "You need to talk to AS." Phone calls to AS (with 15+ minute mid-call holds to speak with supervisors? partner desk?) have led to, "You need to call JL." On the second call to AS, eventually I was told that there was nothing they could do, and that I would get to select seats at OLCI. It's particularly galling that when I pull this reservation up at as.com there are links to select seats that go to JL's website. I'm able to bring the booking up there, but I too am told my fare class does not allow advance seat selection. I recognize that pre-reserving seats is a relatively minor issue, but it's a benefit we are entitled to. I hope not to end up with a centre seat.
I did finally get an aisle seat in Premium Economy on the two longest flights. I kept texting until I got someone at AS who was willing to reach out to JL. How exactly they did this was not explained and is unknown to me. Either way AS were able to get me aisle seats that do show up on the JL website. The interasia flights did not come back with seats and the AS resource said JL reservations would not assign them as they were under airport hold and would need to be handled at check-in. I may try again for the two shorter flights but I left them alone for now.
