Hello, doing homework on what to eat in Dublin...
Read that the Irish (native) oyster season is Sep-April
https://www.irishtimes.com/food/2024...em-all-summer/
It is seasonal, as it spawns during the summer months in Irish waters. It is not available during this time (July)
So I looked at what's in season for July
https://slowfoodireland.com/seasonal/
and under shellfish there is....
Oyster – Gigas aka the Pacific/Kumamato oyster....
https://www.ireland-guide.com/article/oysters.8015.html
Question is...should I still seek out an oyster bar - one of my favourite restaurants in the world is Swan's in San Francisco, when the native oyster is n/a?
~
Not on the slowfood guide but this site says wild Irish salmons season starts in May and peaking in August
https://www.kerryfish.com/where-do-w...-irish-salmon/
Are there places in Dublin where one can get smoked wild irish salmon? Ideally the deli/DIY sort?
In Madrid/Spain, we get plenty of farmed salmon (Norway), and wild Scottish (smoked), though costly, would love to taste a wild Irish.
Thank you!
