To me, the suites look kind of like the lobby of a Holiday Inn Express or something hahaha.

When I travel for business or leisure I do value a certain degree of speed and efficiency, but what I really value are elevated environments, views, experiences, more than other things - I find our speed through the airport is already fast enough with the services I already use, but I really value relaxing in a nice space before and/or after my flight. The aesthetics of the space itself are really important for both airport lounges and hotel rooms, for me.
Yes, you are paying for privacy and efficiency; and PS LAX will always be more expensive than lounges or VIP services you get from airlines. Personally, the Salon is plenty good for me, and the rates are discounted if you purchase in bulk.

The difference, lets say, compared to AA Five Star Select: You have your private TSA screening, get food cooked up/drinks to bring on the plane if you wish and get whisked to your plane via the tarmac car ride. Where PS LAX really shine is their international arrivals..which takes literally 3 seconds.

An example of excellent service: I forgot an iPhone charger, and they got a team member to go buy it for me from a nearby store. People who want their drinks made a certain way, and they'll do it; and I've heard some complex requests.

You can get food made to go for your plane trip. I nearly always order 2 tins of caviar to go for my flight when I'm there.

I order steak and eggs for breakfast, and it's never been an issue, although it's not on the menu.

You are paying for "yes" service that just makes your life easier.
