I had a connection at EWR today, long enough that it might have been OK if irrops continued into today. The moment I got a delay notification, I called (because the app wouldn't show any available flights).

The first time I called, the system recognized me, then made the weird computer sound in the background and said, "We're still working on it... please stand by," played some hold music (not Rhapsody in Blue), then said, "The music will cease, but please remain on the line." I did for another 15 minutes of dead air before hanging up.

I tried the "chat with an agent" feature. Nope. Never got through to anyone.

I started calling again, and every time, it would say, "Are you calling about your trip today?" and when I said "yes," it would ask if I would like to be texted a link to chat with an agent instead. Every single time I said "NO" and it would go, "Great--I'm texting you the link now. Please remain on the line so I Can walk you through using our chat," or something like that. It completely ignored my "NO" and treated it as a "YES," every single time.

I finally got through by demanding "Reservations" repeatedly the moment the call picked up. Actual hold time for an agent was only about 30 seconds! But the agent had a ton of computer issues, too, with everything taking way longer than usual. I got rebooked, onto a flight which had been Y5 when I called but was down to Y2 at that point.

I feel bad for those who are still trying to recover, and for the ops and CSR folks dealing with it.
